Planning lighitng and colours

Planning lighting and color

The style of lighting, which I have chosen to use, is low-key lighting through the majority of the music video. This is because a lot for the music video there will be a lot of negativity through the video. I also think that this will help to set the mood, and the atmosphere for the music video, as this would alert the audience that something bad is going to happen. Another reason why I have chosen to use low key lighting is because of the music video will be set at night, therefore the light will naturally be quite dark. I think this will help to convey that this video is a dark one. I also think that this will help reiterate the darkness and the danger which is in this world has and show just how much it needs saving, through the low key lighting, it will almost be like the darker some of the lighting in the video the more corrupt the world is of evil. The darkness also makes a good portrayal of the reality of which people live in because it is a dark world, this is because darkness also conveys the unknown. For example if something is dark to the point where it is unable to make out what is around then this is like entering the unknown, as the person is not going to know what is in front of them or what would potentially happen to them. I also think that there can be two sides to this darkness one side being; the darkness of the antagonist of the music video and careless they clearly are. I think this is also a good way of showing the power and the overpowering control, which the antagonist will have over the protagonist, as it would convey the fear. Then the amount of the darkness as it will be everywhere as all the surroundings would be dark this was convey the antagonist and how much power they have in these situations. Then I think that the other side to this could portray the victim’s emotions and the way that they would be feeling once the antagonist has attacked them, because they are unaware of what is going to happen to them, and this is also one of the connotations of darkness. Thus portraying the protagonists fear in these situations, showing fear to be dark and scary due to the protagonist having no idea about what it going to happen to them. The use of the low key lighting and the darkness convey the reality of which these people live in, the darkness again portrays it to be dark, and the lack of bright colors also shows how it lacks any aspects of life.

By using low key lighting for my dance music video, it won’t really be conforming to the conventions of a dance music video, as usually they are have a heavily high key dance music video. Which uses a lot of bright colors and happy, fun narratives and concepts but through my music video is will be mostly low key lighting which will therefore make the lighting which I have chosen to use in my music video challenge the conventions of a dance music video. But by doing this, it will allow me to relate the lyrics to the visuals.

Although most of the music will be shot with low key lighting there will be some aspects high key lighting during the video. This will be to convey the minimal amount of protagonist characters which will be having in the music video, thus portraying the little hope which they have and conveying some of the happiness which they might have. The first example of where I will be using high key lighting in this music video would be when the protagonist is shown getting ready and it is like she is in her own bubble, where everything it good, and bright, and where she has nothing to worry about because everything is good, and she is happy living a good life. The protagonist if in her bedroom which is one of settings which will be used for the high key lighting settings, the reason why I have chosen to base the high key lighting here is because this acts as a good metaphor. This would be her bedroom and her house is used to be seen as a bubble then outside would then show the reality of where she lives and convey the darkness and the unknown, which is outside. Thus portraying the bubble which the protagonist is in is where the high key lighting helps to tell the audience that she is happy and is looking forward to her night out. Thus conveying she is not a negative person and not part of the negativity which is going on outside her house. I think that this little bubble which she is in also makes it seem like she is protected, as she in inside her house and therefore thinks that nothing bad will happen to her, because she is happy and is in this little bubble which is protecting her. Another example of where I will be using high key lighting will be where the protagonist is using her phone, and naturally as the phone is used it is very bright and stands out more in low key lighting. Thus the bright light through all of the low key lighting the phone will be really bright this will shows that even though there is only a little bit of bright lighting it will bright enough to show that through all of the evil there can be some good to be had in the world and that more people are trying to save the world and that more good can be in the world and that it can become brighter. This can also show through all of the darkness that there can still be something good in the middle of the darkness, and when the phone brightens up it is like it is fighting through all of the darkness to be good and try to save the world even if it is just a little bit in the most simplest way. The brightness will also convey a little ray of hope of which showing there is some good and that this one phone call could save the world. The use of the high key lighting is used to convey the purpose of the video, which is to save the world and to try and reduce the crime and the negativity which is going on in the world, and by using light I am able to achieve this as it then turns into a metaphor representing light and hope through the video. Some of my setting will also be in a club and this therefore means that is will be dark in the club as well, this can be to create an atmosphere. This also faces similar reasoning to the reasoning before the darkness as the people in the night club won’t know what the rest of the night will hold for the people. But the bright lights which are in the club will help to show that what is going on in the club is not wrong and that there are happy people, and people are enjoying their night. The flashing of the lights would also suggests that there would be a range of different emotions going on at the same time, as people at the club would be facing a whole range of different emotions, which would be both up and down, this would then reflect the emotions of people.
By using high key lighting through some of the video will help me to conform to some of the conventions of a dance music video as they are usually are bright, fun and color full and although the phone scene where the high key lighting will be used won’t be a fun scene. But the scene where there will be fun will be where the protagonist is in her bedroom and she is getting ready this would be the time where the protagonist is happy; thus helping me to conform to conventions.

The main colors which I will be using through my music videos will be very bold ones, and iconic colors. The color which I will probably use the most will be black, this is because part of the purpose of this music video is to convey the darkness of the world which we live in. one of the places where I will be using the color black will be for the color of the hoodie for the antagonist. This is what he will be wearing when he mugs the protagonist’s phone. One of the reasons why I have decided to have a black hoodie on the antagonist is because of the low key lighting which I will be using the color black will start to blend into the background ever so slightly therefore making it hard to see the antagonist in the dark at first until his face becomes seen. Another reason why I have chosen to use black is because it helps the antagonist to blend into the background and become part of the darkness this would therefore make him harder to see. Thus creating the metaphor that he has been consumed by the darkness and the evilness. Further making it look like he is part of night, and darkness. This then helps to convey the idea that evil is everywhere even if it can’t be seen. Thus illustrating how darkness and evil is part of the unknown and can’t always been seen and is able to attack people in many ways even if it means that they can’t be seen. This is the main connotations behind reasons why I have chosen to use the color black in my music video.
The other main color which I have decided to use in my music video is the color white. This is because like the color black helps to convey some of the purpose of the video so will the color white as it will help to convey the innocence’s of the protagonist. This color white is often used for angels which further connotes forgiving, innocence’s, purity, cleanness, and clear. Therefore I think that this was a good color to put my protagonist in, as this then helps to portray her has being an innocent person. Another reason why I decided to chose the color white to put the protagonist in is because we want the protagonist to be seen as a angle, which for gives this will be evident when the protagonist still helps out the antagonist when he gets run over and the protagonist still get the phone which the antagonist stole and calls for help. This shows why the protagonist is wearing white as she is a good person because even though the antagonist just mugged her, she still has the decency to call for help and make sure that he is okay. This then makes her the better person and then makes her the protagonist because she saves the antagonist after what he has done to her. This would then make her the better person and is one example of how to save the world. White is also a far contrast from black and vise verse. It also shows that the antagonist which is wearing black will be less noticed while in white the character is more likely to stand out more and is likely to be more noticed. This is the main reason why I have decided to use the color white, and the reason why I have decided to use both the color black and white.

These are the main reasons why I have decided to make use of low key lighting through my music video. But also keep some aspects of high key lighting as well. I have also spoken about my reasons behind why I have chosen to use the colors black and white and what they mean through my video and how I will be able to translate this to the audience.

Analyses of song lyrics

The song which I have chosen to produce for my music video is ‘Save The World’ by Swedish House Mafia; this is because it fits into the dance genre. Also because it conforms to the idea which I have got for the music video which I wish to produce and fits in well with the concept based video which I wish to produce, this song will also help me conform to the conventions of a dance music video.
Into the streets, we're coming down- for this first line of the song, I think this sets the scene for the song and gives the audience something to visualize and starts the song. I think that this connotes the setting for the rest of the song through the word ‘streets’ I think that the camera elements would be really important here as it would be the start of the video so I would want to make sure that it is an interesting shot to that people feel intrigued to want to watch the music video and find out more. So for this reason I think I would have a close up shot.
We never sleep, Never get tired- for the second line of the song I think that a character is being developed from the first line of the song, as the words ‘we’re’ suggest a whole group of people are in the streets and its now just one person, this could then Swedish House Mafia referring to themselves as there is more than one of them. I think by the song saying things like they ‘never sleep’ and ‘never get tried’ suggest that these people who are being spoken about are like the super heroes who are saving the world. I think that the start of the music video which I have planned to have will mean that the start of the video will be a little slow so I think this scene will still be a close up.
Through urban fields, and suburban life- I think this line is almost like the group explaining the setting which they are travelling through to save the world. So in this case it is ‘urban fields’ and a ‘suburban life’ I think that last quote is talking more about the type of life style which people are living now, so the word ‘suburban ‘ would express this. During this scene I will want to use a long shot of one of the settings which I will be using through this music video.

Turn the crowd up now, We'll never back down- I think this line is talking more about noise which the crowd would be making at a concert or somewhere like that, and that phrase ‘turn the crowd up now’ would suggest the quality of Swedish House Mafias music and the louder they want the crowd they would know to play one of their mainstream songs, because that would get the crowd to cheer and scream more. I then this that this could mean that the group is like making their way to one of their concerts and this is the path which they have to pass and the emotion which they might be feeling before one of their concerts. Then the phrase ‘we’ll never back down’ could mean that the group is not going to stop playing their music, but then I think that this could also connote the idea of never giving up on trying to save the world and that they will keep trying. I think this could also mean that the group is trying to change the world with their music as that’s what they do best so that’s how they would change the world. For this shot I would like to start one of the narratives for example start to show the protagonist and the antagonist in action.
Shoot down a skyline, watch it in primetime- I think that this line is about going to extreme lengths to save the world even if it means shooting down the skyline. Then I think the line ‘watch it on primetime’ could mean quite a few things the first of which being their audience watching them on the TV and that being one way in which they could save the world by people watching on the TV, then I also think that this could mean the saving which they will be doing will be able to be watched on primetime TV because that’s how big the change to the world will be and that’s how much they would have saved the world. For this shot I think I might have the camera cut straight across to the other narrative which will be going on, so this will be the tramp.
Turn up the love now, listen up now, turn up the love-then I think that again there is another reference to music here with the phrase ‘turn up the love now’ the word ‘turn up’ could relate back to music like turning up the volume but this is turning up the love, this could be done through music, by putting on music which people love, this then creates more love and turns up the love. Then I think that the phrase ‘listen up now’ is Swedish House Mafia addressing their audience, and then the last part of this verse which is the same as the start I think that this would then be what the group is trying to say to their fans. The shot i would like to use in my own music video would be a close up of some sort of plan being put into action.
Who's gonna save the world tonight? - This lyric of the song I think this is Swedish House Mafia asking a question to its audience, this is to help them to think and is a way of getting the audience involved with the lyrics and help them to feel that the lyrics are directed towards them and makes them think about who is saving the world. I think that these lyrics are ones which could be targeted towards an audience of a live performance as this can be seen as something which could be said to them when preforming live somewhere. I think for my own video the type of mise-en-scene which I would use for this part of the video would be one of the main narratives which I have chosen to have throughout the song, for example the narrative of the tramp on the floor. The shot i will be using here would be a long shot this would be to show the difference between saving people can save the world.
Who's gonna bring you back to life? – This is another question which is asked by the group again I think this is done to make the audience think about what the group is trying to say. I think that there lyrics could also been seen as Swedish House Mafia saying that their music will bring the audience back to life, because this is how powerful it is and that is what the music is capable of, I think the word ‘who’ actually suggests Swedish House Mafia themselves.
We're gonna make it, you and I – I think that these last two verses them answer the question about who is going to save the world. I think that the first two verses are there to place the questions into the audience head then the two verses which occur after that is Swedish House Mafia answering the questions which they have just asked. I then think that the words ‘you’ and ‘I’ I think that these pronouns are a way of getting the audience involved further as it is then like Swedish House Mafia and make the audience think that Swedish House Mafia actually think that together they can save the world. This is conveyed through the word ‘we’re’ as it is a pronoun which is used to describe a group of people together. For this scene I think that the mise-en-scene which I will be using is having something happen or a person appear to help the characters and the protagonists from the main narratives.
We're gonna Save The World tonight – I then see this as meaning that Swedish House Mafia is saying that together as in the audience as well of themselves are capable of saving the world together. I think that another way of looking at this would be that through one of their performances they will be able to save the world with all of the love and the goodness which they can do together. This is displayed through the use of the pronoun ‘we’re’ as that is a word which can be used to describe a whole collective of people, so in this case that would the audience which they are performing to. The word which suggests that it could be one of their performances would be the word ‘tonight’ as this is a term which is often used during tours through phrases, as a tour with one crowd usually lasts one night as well. I think that for this I would have the other scenario being seen to and the protagonist being helped out.
Ohoh oh oh, oh oh ohoh oh – I think that think line would be seen as the crowd cheering. This is because is usually ends up sounding like a wave of noise. I think within my music video I would have a transition between this and maybe the other narrative perhaps a fade.
We're far from home, it's for the better – I think that this could be representative of Swedish House Mafia being on a tour which is not in Sweden, and that would therefore be seen as being far from home, and then I think that the phrase ‘it for the better’ could then mean that they don’t mind being this far from home because they are entertaining their fans and making them happy therefore they think this is better than being at home where they may not be able to do this as much. I also think that this line could also mean that the people who are saving the world are far from where they live maybe but that is okay because what they are doing is saving the world and is that means being far from home to do that then they will travel ‘far from home’ I also think that this could mean that distance doesn’t matter, and they will travel as far as they have to in order for them to save the world. Then the phrase ‘it for the better’ could mean that they will travel far in order to save the world.  For the music video which I will be producing I will have the after math of the event.
What we dream, it's all that matters – this could be that Swedish House Mafia put their dreams first before everything, and they are telling their audience that they could do that same to get to where they want to be and in order for them to live their dreams and make it happen.  This is shown through the last line of that phrase which is ‘it’s all that that matters’ I think that this shows that by putting dreams first they can be achieved. I also think that this could me that all these people care about is saving the world, and that, this is all that matters. For the thoughts of my own music video would be to convey someone giving up their time to save someone else and have them risking themselves for the better.
We're on our way, united- I think this is a bold statement, the word ‘we’re’ suggests Swedish House Mafia referring to themselves and the audience together. And then I think that this is further enhanced by the word ‘united’ as this can be a reference to a group of people getting a team, I think that it can also been seen as two different types of people being brought together. I think that this could also be seen as the people who are saving the world that they are talking, and they are saying to people that together they are able to save the world. I think for this verse I would have the other narrative and show the hero of that narrative.
Turn the crowd up now, We'll never back down - the lyrics of this verse is a repeat for the song lyrics which are above.
Shoot down a skyline, watch it in primetime – this is also the same lyric as before, therefore won’t need to add anything else to it.
Turn up the love now, listen up now, turn up the love – this is the same verse from above and therefore won’t be adding anymore.

Who's gonna save the world tonight? –
This verse will have the same meaning as the first these lyrics are displayed.
Who's gonna bring you back to life? – This is a repeat of the verse before.
We're gonna make it, you and I – this is another lyrics which has also been repeated.
We're gonna Save The World tonight – because this is the chorus of the same it is therefore the same.

Ohoh oh oh, oh oh ohoh oh [repeated til end] –
this is another repeated lyric
These are the lyrics of the song which I have chosen to do, the song being ‘Save The World’ by Swedish House Mafia.  By choosing this song it allows me to convey a strong message to my audience. This is to try and create a bold statement about saving the world and by analysing the lyrics this has allowed helped me to make some of the decision about what I want to happen at each stage of the lyrics, and help me to link the visuals with the lyrics.

Planning Lighting and Colour

Sub culture theory

Media- subculture theory

Subculture theory can be defined as a group of people which are united through a range of common values and tastes this could be in the genre of anything for example music, politics or clothing etc. In relation to music it can also be said to be a group of people who are positioned outside of the mainstream, this could mean that they go against what’s popular.

One of the theories which I looked at was Grant McCracken’s. He believed that the post modern world is full of a range of different dynamism, diversities and creativity. McCracken also believes that as an audience we all look at an array of values, and ideologies. Therefore it would be wrong for us to say that all sub cultures come from one initial culture.

I also looked at another theory this was the view of CCCS. This theory completely ignores McCracken’s theory all together. This is because it assumes that all subcultures come from one culture, and that subcultures are then generated as a reaction from the mainstream. So this is almost like saying that without the initial mainstream there wouldn’t be subcultures as this is what they originally come from and without the mainstream being the way it is they are able to be subcultures otherwise the mainstream it would be like saying that all cultures are either subcultures or all mainstream.

But this theory is said to be out of date as now in the 21st century the word mainstream has a different meaning to what it use to have. This I because the mainstream is changing all the time, it can also be said that there is no longer a mainstream and that there are many streams rather than just one. This is because of it changing all of the time as such as fast rate that the word mainstream almost no longer exists. Thus meaning that if there is no mainstream then teens have nothing to react against. This could then mean that they are driven by other motives, these then become more of individual terms.

The last theory which I looked at was Hebdige theory. He looks at the music industry differently and has come to the conclusion that although some people think that subcultures may only appear to be different but deep down they are all the same. He even thinks that if you look deeper there is enough richness to warrant renaming ‘subcultures’ as ‘little cultures’. I think that this is like saying that there are no real subculture theories and that everything is part of the mainstream, they are just different sections which makes up the mainstream.

I think that for the genre of music which I have chosen to base my music video on is Hebdige’s theory this is because he believes that it takes a whole range of different cultures to make up the mainstream. As I have chosen to produce a dance related genre for my video, I think that the dance genre is part of the mainstream and I think that it is one of those genres which very much help to make up the mainstream. This is because I think that dance comes in a range of different forms, and is part of a subculture of many different genres, for example dance is often mixed with, R&B, House, and pop these are just a few examples or where else the dance genre is often used. As I have chosen to base my song around the dance genre, as the group which I have considered to choose is Swedish House Mafia, as they are more of a dance and house genre. This why I think for the genre of music I am doing, I think that they will defiantly fit into the main stream, as it one of the genres which help to make up the mainstream. I have chosen to create a narrative and concept based music videos both of which are conventional to dance. This links into the theory of Hebdige as he believes that all subgenres are all similar in some way and I think that this is something which may become evident within my music video where I have used both a narrative and a concept even though both of these style of video is conventional to dance these are also very familiar to other music genres and occurs within their conventions as for example; in an R&B music video, or a pop music video they too use narrative. Thus supporting Hebdige’s theory of how all subgenres link in together, one way of showing this being through the style of videos which they chose to make. Mixing the styles is something which I am doing within my own music video.

Cinematography

Camera shots

These are the shots which I will be using in my music video as these shots will help me to create fast passed editing and make the narrative more obvious to the audience. I also think that this will also make my music video more interesting as I I’ll be using a whole range of different shots. This will also help me in highlighting to the audience what is important in each scene and what might appear later on in other scenes.

One of the first shots, which I will be using, is a close up shot. This is a shot, which is often used a lot on music videos, and a lot in the dance genre in particular. The stereotypical way of using the shot is to show close ups of people clubbing and there hands in the air, or around someone’s neck or waist, to convey the relationship between the two characters in the music video. Another reason why it is often used is to convey a purpose or to show the audience something, which they may not have seen before, or something, which may be part of the main narrative, or something, which may come into use later on in the video.
I will be using close up shots in my music video, this will also be to help convey the purpose of the song, which is to save the world and also to help the narrative move forward and convey the relationship between the protagonist and the antagonist in the music video. I also think that this will be a good way for me to convey the emotions of the characters through the video as it has quite a strong purpose. I think that this will be me to convey to the audience the emotions of the characters and how scared someone can be, the relief when someone comes to help them, and the look on their faces when they realize they have been saved; thus making the moment of the video where ‘the world would have been saved’ but instead of it being the whole world it will be on a much smaller scale, as it would be the protagonist saving someone’s life.

One example of where I will be using this shot will be to convey the concept aspect of the music video. This will be the sticker, which will be reminding people the purpose of the music video, which is to save to world. So I think that if I keep on repeating the a range of different close up shots of the sticker this will be good as I will be able to remind the audience who are watching the purpose of the video and what the characters are doing are saving the world.

Another shot which I will be using is over the shoulder shots these are usually used to help the audience see what the character see, and help them to understand the narrative better, and live the music video in the eye of the character. I think that this type of shot is used mostly in narrative music video, and not too much in concept-based videos.
I will be using an over the shoulder shot so that the audiences are able understand the narrative from both the protagonist and the antagonist view of the music video, this should hopefully help them to understand better and see why they are doing what they are doing, for example why the antagonist may be mugging the phone, which could be for the benefit of his own family. I also think that by me using this shot that I will be able to convey the emotion on the other characters face if they are face to face with someone. I also think that this will be a good way of me conveying the superiority of the characters if one is looking up and the other is looking down.

An example of where I plan to use this shot is when the mugger is eyeing up the protagonist house from the outside looking up into her window. This will help the audience understand what the antagonist can see and make it clear what his intensions are towards this girl and make it clear that she will be in the narrative later on it the music video. This also helps the audience to see that it is the girl who will be targeted and that it is the girl that the antagonist is looking at.

I will also be using a tracking shot. This is a shot, which I will be using tracking shot; this is a shot, which is usually used to follow someone when for example to follow the artist around their setting. Think that this type of shot can be used in all style of music video, narrative, concept and performance.
I will be using the tracking shot through my video, but as I don’t have an artist it will be used to help portray some of the narrative through music video, as they are used to help me illustrate the visuals and help them connect t the lyrics of the song. Thus helping me to make it more obvious what is going on.

I will be using a tracking shot as part of the tramp scene when he gets up to stand up. One of the reason why I think that this will be a good shot to use it because it is a steady shot, this could then help to connote what the tramp is feeling as at the point of the song which this will be used it will be a hopeless feeling which the tramp has about himself. I think that this would then help the audience to see even though the tramp is clam and is also hopeless. I also think that this would be a good shot to use as I plan to use it through the slower parts of the song, and have the track moving very slower.

One of the other shots I will be using is a long shot the purpose of a long shot is to give the audience a better view of what is happen in the scene, and also to show the audience an over view of what is happening. Another reason for why they are used during music videos is because it give the audience a long shot of the artist. Conveying; what they are wearing, what they are doing, where they are, and is also a way of portraying the attitude of the artist, for example if they were if they were walking a certain way, thus portraying the artist swag.

I will be using a long shot in my music video as it will make it will give my audience a better view of the scene, and give them a good look at my characters, and where they are. This will then convey to that audience that the characters and not the only ones in the scene as I would also like them to see what else is there and the other factors which are involved. For instance if it was raining, and I just had a close up that would then just put the character as the main focus of the scene, but then if there was a long shot then the audience would then see the rest of the setting and could then feel more emotive for the character in this scene.

I will be using a long shot when filming will be when I am filming the mugging scene this will be where the antagonist I taking the protagonists phone. For this scene I will be using a long shot as it will able the audience to see everything which is going on, so that they would then be able to see the aggressive hand actions, and the antagonist holding the protagonist in the fight to get the phone . The reason for the long shot will allow the audience to see everything, instead of only some of the shot. Thus could lead to the audience feeling more emotive for the protagonist.

This is just a few of the main shots which I will be using through my music video. These are just a few which I will be using to make my music video conform to the stereotypes of a dance music video.

Iconography

Media iconography

One of the main props, which I will be using, is the sticker, which will be used throughout the video. This stick will be used everywhere and will help to convey the main purpose of the song. The reason why I have decided to use a sticker is being a stick is something, which people where when they are supporting something or are proud of. This is also a form of branding this is also which I will want to portray through the music video this is because we are trying to get the message of saving the world out and convey it has a brand and brand which people in the video will see and want to support and hopefully this will be something which the audience will want to support as well.  I also think that a sticker is very iconic and is something, which would be easy to put in a lot of places, and get it, noticed.

The reason why I have selected a sticker because it is something which can be stuck everywhere, for example it could be put on someone’s top, stuck to a lamp post, stuck on a wall, on a car, and just about anywhere but these are just a few examples of where it could be stuck. It is also small yet is still something which gets noticed and can be seen by a lot of people.

I think that s stick supports the style of my video because some of the lyrics of the video are fast and is also upbeat, and a sticker is something, which can be, stuck somewhere really quickly and match the editing of the song. Thus helping me to be able to match the editing, lyrics and the visuals altogether.

Another piece of iconography, which I will be using through my music video, is, an Iphone. This is something, which will be used by more than one character, and each time it gets used it will be serving a different purpose. It is also important that I use this in my music video because this is the item, which is going to be stolen from one of the characters in the music video, and although it will be stolen and used for the muggers use after this. When the mugger the antagonist then gets hit, the protagonist will get the same phone and call for help. So this will show how small things can save someone’s life by just calling a number. Also this is a way of conveying to the audience that she is a good person and that she is still doing the right thing and letting the fact that someone just mugged her she is still willing to help.

One of the reasons why I have chosen to use a phone is because it is something which is very modern and something which the audience would be familiar withThis will also help me to relate the narrative to the audience, and give the audience something, which would make the audience think and see how the storyline is one, which can be related. As the scenario, which the narrative is used in, is quite common and not something unusual it will also help the audience to understand the narrative better and see how the small things can save the world and how no matter how big or small the gesture is it can still be something, which is seen as saving the world. A phone is also something, which more people are familiar with and is an item with has become more common amongst people. By using a phone is also help’s to keep my narrative simple but effective as having a phone stolen is something, which can happen to anyone, and is something which has become really common in today’s society.  Another reason why I have decided to use a phone is because it helps me to show the good and then bad it people, it is also one item which can be used as a help and a hinder in the situation which it is used in. thus helping to convey how people have different motives and how they are different people. Like a good example, which I could use, here would be, the antagonist cares more about getting the phone from the protagonist, while the protagonist cares more about saving the antagonist.

The reason why I have chosen to use a phone to convey the difference in people is because it can be seen as in icon of which is an item, which is familiar amongst most people, and is an every day item, which is used, by a lot of people. It also works well in convey the message which I want to get across to my audience, and is something which is easy to relate to as most people have a phone, and have heard about the scenario before. By using the phone it allows me to switch the roles of the phone within a second from being the reason the girl gets attacked to the device, which saves the antagonist life.

I think that by having a phone in the music video that I am support the style of my music video as well as the music genre. This is because a mobile phone is something which plays music, this is also a feature which is appears a lot I music videos. This is usually then the music video involves the artist starting up a new little party of his or her own usually in a weird location where a party wouldn’t normally be started, for example just in the middle of the street this is something which ‘LAFMAO’ done in one of their videos. David Guetta has also done this in many videos of his own, this is usually done to convey to the audience all the different types of iconography which they want to portray and is a way of them showing off the latest piece of technology which they have. It is almost like a way of displaying how powerful this piece of technology is an as, the artist tends to make it seem that the phone, or other piece of technology, which they have, is. The common way in which they do this is when they show that they have the ability to start a party just which one piece of technology so in this cases the mobile phone.
